Title: Postdoctoral Position in Biomechanics, Marine Sediment Structure
Date Posted: March 19, 2020
Deadline: Until Filled

Job Details:

A 3-year Postdoctoral Researcher position is available to work with Dr. Kelly Dorgan at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab starting in summer 2020.

This ONR-funded project focuses on developing and using instruments to measure geotechnical properties of muddy marine sediments, with the goal to better understand burrowing mechanics and energetics. Research in the lab integrates ecology, biomechanics (including engineering theory and methods), geotechnical engineering, and invertebrate behavior, morphology, and physiology.

Dr. Dorgan is looking for a candidate with a background in biomechanics or bioinspired design, marine science focused on sediments, and/or geotechnical engineering. Some experience with electronics and programming in Matlab is preferred.

Please send a CV and letter of interest to kdorgan@disl.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
